This years NFL Draft is arguably the deepest draft in history, and one of the positions that is the deepest is quarterback. Also, there are many teams in this draft looking for a franchise quarterback. The man who has started to show that he is the best quarterback in the draft is undoubtedly University of Central Florida’s Blake Bortles. The 6’5″ 232lb quarterback had an impressive showing at the NFL Combine, and then followed it up with a strong pro-day. Bortles has been compared to Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on the basis that he can evade pressure, extend plays, and create space for himself using his legs. Bortles is also faster than most people give him credit for. The Central Florida graduate ran a 4.93 at the combine and showed impressive athleticism with a 32.5 inch vertical. Blake Bortles seems to be the frontrunner to be the number 1 choice overall to the Houston Texans, and even if he is not taken there, odds are he doesn’t make it out of the first 5 picks. So what is the final verdict on the talented quarterback? Blake Bortles is a very big, athletic, strong-armed, smart quarterback with all the tools to be an elite quarterback.
